How Do Pregnancy Tests Work?

HCG is present when you’re pregnant, so it’s often called the pregnancy hormone. This hormone is found in both urine and blood around 10 to 11 days after conception.

When To Take A Pregnancy Test

The Mayo Clinic suggests the most accurate time to take a pregnancy test is to wait at least a day after your first missed period. Waiting a little bit will give the pregnancy hormone time to rise to a detectable level if you are indeed pregnant.

If you think you may still be pregnant after getting a negative test result, test again a week after your missed period for the most accurate results.
