Think you’re pregnant? Did you miss your period? Maybe your mind is racing a million miles a minute. We understand how surreal this time can feel, but you are stronger than you know.

Take a pregnancy test as your first step to pregnancy confirmation to get clarity about your pregnancy. Nova Women’s Health offers no-cost pregnancy testing.

How Do Pregnancy Tests Work?

Pregnancy tests work to detect if you’re pregnant by determining the amount of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your body.

HCG is present when you’re pregnant, so it’s often called the pregnancy hormone. This hormone is found in both urine and blood around 10 to 11 days after conception.

When To Take A Pregnancy Test

The Mayo Clinic suggests the most accurate time to take a pregnancy test is to wait at least a day after your first missed period. Waiting a little bit will give the pregnancy hormone time to rise to a detectable level if you are indeed pregnant.

If you think you may still be pregnant after getting a negative test result, test again a week after your missed period for the most accurate results.

Do You Have Irregular Periods?

Some women experience irregular periods, and it makes it difficult to know if they are pregnant or not. We can help you determine when to take a pregnancy test.
